    This auction is for 2 posters.  This poster was printed on 2 different color paper and both are 1st printings. Poster were designed and printed by San Diego poster Artist Don Kay.  Kay has 3 posters featured in the Art of Rock (AOR 3.11, 3.94 & 3.95).  The posters are in mint condition and came direct from the artist personal collection.
    In 1965,
    San Diego's
    first rock 'n' roll nightclub,
    the
    Palace
    , opened across the street from the San Diego
    Sports Arena. Bookings ran the gamut from soul to acid rock. For a while, the house band was the
    Palace Pages
    , which later moved to Los Angeles and changed its name to
    Iron Butterfly
    .
    The Palace posters and
    handbills are extremely rare.
    Barry Goldberg
    is a highly talented and respected musician. Known as a
    musician's musician
    who is still making new fans to this day. As a teenager in Chicago, Goldberg sat in with
    Muddy Waters
    ,
    Otis Rush
    , and
    Howlin' Wolf
    . He played keyboards with the
    Paul Butterfield Blues Band
    backing
    Bob Dylan
    during his 1965 newly 'electrified' appearance at the
    Newport Folk Festival
    . He formed
    The Electric Flag
    with
    Mike Bloomfield
    in 1967, and later formed the 'Barry Goldberg Reunion' in 1968.
    In 1965, after moving to Chicago to play the blues, Steve Miller and keyboardist Barry Goldberg founded the Goldberg-Miller Blues Band along with bassist Roy Ruby, rhythm guitarist Craymore Stevens, and drummer Maurice McKinley. The band contracted to Epic Records and recorded a single, "The Mother Song", which they performed on Hullabaloo, before Miller left the group to go to San Francisco.

    In 1992 he played keyboards with the Carla Olson &
    Mick Taylor
    band, which resulted in the live CD

    , featuring the talents of artists like

    .
    Charlie Musselwhite
    is a Chicago
    electric blues
    harmonica player and bandleader who came to prominence in the early 1960s, along with
    Mike Bloomfield
    and
    Paul Butterfield
    . He has often been identified as a "white bluesman".
    Musselwhite was reportedly the inspiration for Elwood Blues; the character played by
    Dan Aykroyd
    in the 1980 film
    The Blues Brothers
    .
